Michael’s Epic Weather Extravaganza

11-year-old Michael is obsessed with all things weather-related and dreams of being a storm chaser when he grows up. So who better to spend the day with than famous meteorologist and storm chaser Reed Timmer?

Michael and his family met Reed Timmer at the National Weather Museum in Oklahoma. Within minutes, Reed was incredibly impressed with Michael’s technical knowledge of meteorology, and the pair talked about weather like old friends. Michael and Reed toured the museum, slowly, as each section would provide an array of topics to discuss.

Michael and his family then got to tour the inside of multiple vehicles used by members of The National Weather Center during storm chases. Michael also got to release a weather balloon and see real time data of atmospheric pressure, temperate, humidity, and wind speeds.

Michael and Reed then finished their tour of the museum and played a VR drone game, fly simulator game, and talked about tornadoes. After, Reed showed Michael the Dominator 1 & 2, the original vehicles used in Timmer’s Discovery Channel series “Storm Chasers.”

To commemorate the day, Michael received all kinds of souvenirs from The National Weather Center, and Reed signed a Dominator shirt Michael has had since he was a toddler.

Reed and Michael had so much fun, Reed even invited Michael on a real-life storm chase the following day.

Michael’s parents were beyond grateful for his wish. Tears filled their eyes as they saw how happy Michael was hanging out with Reed and experiencing all the weather fun.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude,” Michael’s parents said. “This truly is a once and a lifetime experience.”
